Jeff Morgan is currently the Chief of Staff (Chief Medical Officer) and orthopedic surgeon for the Fayetteville NC Veterans Administration Coastal Health Care System. This system provides healthcare to over 70,000 veterans in multiple sites throughout the southeast 19 counties of NC. 

Jeff has been at the VA since 2017 after retiring from the Army as a Colonel.  In the military, he practiced orthopedics and was heavily involved in medical leadership and operational medicine.  He retired as the United States Army Special Operations Command Surgeon (Chief Medical Officer for US Army Special Operations). Prior to that, he was the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Commander for Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg.  

Jeff was in combat as an infantry officer with the 101st Airborne in Desert Storm. He also served in combat with multiple units as an orthopedic surgeon. 

He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point in 1988, East Tennessee State University Medical School in 1998 and Duke University with an MBA in Health Sector Management in 2012.  Jeff is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He is married to Laura Morgan who is the newly crowned Ms. Senior America.  Laura and Jeff are members of First Baptist Church of Southern Pines. They moved into Pinehurst in 2012 with the military and decided shortly after to make Pinehurst their permanent home. Jeff was elected to the Pinehurst Village Council in November 2021.
