PD Pic 08.23.22The Police Chief reports directly to the Village Manager and serves as a member of the senior leadership team. In addition to the Chief, the Police Department consists of 26 sworn police officers, four dispatchers, one administrative and telecommunications coordinator and six reserve auxiliary officers to protect the life and property of approximately 17,331 residents.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Patrolling three response areas
  • Dispatching approximately 1,500 routine and emergency police calls monthly
  • Investigating and gathering evidence to solve crimes
  • Promoting strong community engagement

Citizen Connect

The Pinehurst Police Department now offers Citizen Connect with real time crime activity data.  Residents can receive instant crime notifications using the Citizen Connect Application from Southern Software.  This Application provides the following online services:

  • Daily Reports - Incident & Accident Reports may not be available for up to 72 hours from the date a report was filed.
  • Incident Reports - May not be available for up to 72 hours from the date a report was filed and can be pulled by Incident Number, Date Range, Name or Location.
  • Incident Map - Allows residents to view areas where crimes have been committed, a legend at the right tells you the type of crime and by clicking on the specific icon on the map a window will open providing information to include a link to the Incident Report.  You can also zoom in and/or move the map up, down, right and left by using the mouse.
  • Criminal Papers - Can be searched by Name or Date Issued.
  • Anonymous Tip Line - Allows residents to report a tip without leaving their personal information.

Tip Hotline: 910-420-1654

The Pinehurst Police Department now has a Tip Line:  910-420-1654. Pinehurst residents should call this number to report any suspicious activity noted in or around the Village. Callers can rest assured that this tip line is strictly anonymous and any information gathered from it will be kept confidential, unless the caller wishes to reveal his/her identity. The Pinehurst Police Department appreciates support from the public and encourages Pinehurst residents to utilize this tip line to keep crime low. "If you see something, say something" is the motto for keeping our community safe!

Special Olympics

Special Olympics North CarolinaThe Pinehurst Police Department supports the NC Special Olympics by participating in the Annual Torch Run. In addition, the department typically holds several fundraising events throughout the year to benefit those with special needs.
