The Governing Body of the Village consists of a five-member council that includes a directly elected Mayor. The Council provides leadership and strategic vision for the Village.

The Council considers and adopts local ordinances and resolutions to provide for the health, safety, and overall quality of life for the residents, businesses, and visitors of Pinehurst.

Other responsibilities include:

• Providing governance for a population of approximately 18,000
  
  
• Setting strategic direction for approximately 150 full-time employees
  
  
• Adopting the Strategic Operating Plan which includes the annual budget and five-year financial forecast
  
  
• Approving policies that provide guidance for all municipal operations
