Home MenuCouncilmember Barb Ficklin
Barb and her husband, Bill, moved to Pinehurst in 2004, having retired from corporate careers which took them from Washington, D.C. to Atlanta and just about every other major city in between. Having both discovered this area in the 1970s through family connections, they were anxious to realize their shared dream of one day living in Pinehurst permanently.
Barb’s career path includes thirteen years experience in the telecommunications industry with C&P Telephone and AT&T, three years in the Office of Career Services at Meredith College in Raleigh, and fourteen years as Account Manager/Facilitator affiliated with Business Performance Solutions, an agency of Wilson Learning Corporation, a global learning solutions industry leader for the development of human resource skills. Her work involved working closely with corporate clients focusing on employee skill development in the areas of leadership & management, interpersonal skills, team building, and professional sales skills.
Barb and Bill decided to make their retirement about giving back to their community through volunteer work. They ultimately operated a food pantry that grew and thrived for twelve years, and with the assistance of some forty dedicated volunteers, were able to distribute food weekly to hundreds of Moore County residents in need.
Barb is an active member of her church, having served as a deacon and elder in addition to operating the food pantry. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Merry Hearts Preschool. She has been a member of her neighborhood homeowners association for 15 years, serving as president for 8 years. Barb is a graduate of Denison University, Granville, Ohio
