The Village of Pinehurst's parks and greenway trails offer a wide range of activities, including soccer/baseball fields, picnic shelters, in-line hockey rink, a disc golf course, and miles of greenway trails.
Cannon Park
Located off Hwy 211, is a 15-acre facility with restrooms, two baseball/softball fields, covered picnic shelter, walking trails, and a small multipurpose field. The picnic shelter and ball fields may be reserved for a minimal fee.
The park is a longstanding favorite with families and includes Camelot Playground, a medieval castle where children can explore secret passages and tunnel mazes. The playground is designed for kids of all ages and includes infant and therapeutic swings. A separate playground located next to Camelot is designed for older kids.
Parents can enjoy a large sitting area within the playground and several surrounding picnic tables that allow parents to catch up on reading while the kids catch up on playing.
Rassie Wicker Park
Located off Rassie Wicker Drive (site of Village Hall, Police Station and Fire Station), Rassie Wicker Park is a community park. Amenities available within the 103-acre facility include the Splash Pad, two tennis courts, two bocce courts, two shuffleboard courts, a multipurpose field, in-line hockey rink, a playground, paved walking trails, brick sidewalks, an expanded trail system and concession stand/restroom facility.
Wicker Park is also home to the 33-acre Arboretum developed by the Village Heritage Foundation. The Magnolia Lawn, Joyce's Meadow, the Pergola Garden and Timmel Pavilion may all be reserved for weddings, receptions, and other events. A deposit and rental fees do apply.
West Pinehurst Community Park

James W. Tufts Memorial Park
Located in the heart of the Village center, this park is also known as the "Village Green". The park features an open green space with benches and picnic tables around the perimeter of the park. Tufts Park also hosts a number of special events including a seasonal weekly farmers market, and the annual Village Christmas Tree Lighting to just name a few.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plans
There are currently 7.6 linear miles of greenway trails constructed in the Village. In 2015, the Village adopted a Pedestrian Master Plan which calls for future expansion of greenway trails and sidewalks throughout the Village to promote connectivity and active living. Please note, the greenway trails are for pedestrian and bicycling access only. Motorized vehicles, such as golf carts, are not allowed on the trails. Violators are subject to fines and penalties as set forth in the Village of Pinehurst Municipal Code.
The Village also adopted a Bicycle Master Plan in which emphasis was placed on bike lanes, side paths and other measures to improve safety for cyclists. The plan was funded in part by a NCDOT Planning Grant which was received in 2013. The Village has a Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) that meets quarterly in the Village Hall to discuss future projects and we welcome residents and the public to join us at these meetings. The meeting schedule can be found here.
