For more than125 years the Village of Pinehurst has provided residents with an exceptional lifestyle rooted in a tradition of leisure and recreation – and in that spirit – the Village is planning for the future of parks and recreation for the next 10 years.
The Parks and Recreation Department has contracted consultants with McAdams Company to update the existing Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan. This all-inclusive, long-range plan will provide a road map for future facilities and services while also improving existing ones.
Two public workshops are scheduled on Tuesday, December 6 to introduce the project and receive feedback to enhance the direction of the final Master Plan.
The two public workshops take place from 10 a.m. to noon or 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cannon Park Community Center (210 Rattlesnake Tr.). Those unable to attend the workshops can provide input and ask questions on the Engage Pinehurst portal at engage.vopnc.org.
The Parks and Recreation Department’s most recent Comprehensive Plan was completed in 2011.
“Out of the 2011 plan, the Village saw the addition of the Splash Pad and playground at Rassie Wicker Park, additional greenway trails, and the Cannon Park Community Center,” said Parks and Recreation Director Mark Wagner. “We hope the community will once again provide their feedback, attend the public engagement meetings, and complete the survey so that we can continue to provide fun for all ages and abilities.”
