The Pinehurst Putter Boy was developed by Frank Presbrey, who ran an advertising agency in New York. After it was discovered that consumption was actually tuberculosis and was contagious, it was imperative to attract guests looking for recreation. The Putter Boy ads appeared in magazines such as American Living and Golf Illustrated and encouraged northerners to “Come to Pinehurst.”  For reproduction, usage and information, please email us at  giventuftsinfo@vopnc.org.
