HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE & PAPER SHREDDING EVENT
The Moore County Cooperative Extension Service, Keep Moore County Beautiful, County of Moore, Village of Pinehurst, Village of Whispering Pines, and the Towns of Aberdeen and Southern Pines are sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Pinecrest High School. The event will be held in the parking lot off of Voit Gilmore Lane from 10:00a.m until 2:00p.m. In addition to household hazardous waste collection, a paper shredding service will be available.
As this is an event strictly for household hazardous waste, no commercial waste can be accepted.
Examples of items to be collected are: paint and paint thinners, furniture strippers and finishing products, solvents and degreasers, wood preservatives, polishes, aerosols, florescent light tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, NiCad batteries, alkaline batteries, lithium batteries, propane cylinders, swimming pool chemicals, used motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, hydraulic, transmission and brake fluid. Other items collected are pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. These items need to be in their original containers for identification purposes.
The recycling of electronics is not part of this planned event. The County of Moore has established electronic recycling collection sites at all of its waste collection facilities throughout the county. Contact the County of Moore Public Works Division, 910-947-3637 for a convenient location.
