Planapalooza Focus Meeting: Utilities & Supporting Infrastructure

Comp Plan Logo 216x162The Village of Pinehurst invites the public to attend a PlanapaloozaTM September 19 to 24 to provide input on the community’s vision for its future. This will be the third public event held as part of the Village’s “Envision the Village” Long Range Comprehensive Plan project.  The first was a Community Kick-Off Meeting on Wednesday, June 27th. This well-attended meeting at the Fair Barn provided the community with information about the purpose of the project and the process by which the Village and its consultant, Town Planning & Urban Design Collaborative, LLC (TPUDC) intend to complete it. The second event was Visioning Workshops held on Wednesday, August 29th at Village Hall. During this event, over 200 participants visited six different visioning stations themed as golf holes to provide specific input related to community facilities, transportation, growth and development, and the future of the Village.

The goal of the Envision The Village project is to detail the Village’s long-term vision and goals and outline the steps necessary to achieve them. The plan is intended to guide growth and development in an organized, efficient and sustainable manner. To do so, it will to the future to anticipate trends and issues that could impact how growth and development occur.  The plan will be long range in scope, focusing on the ultimate needs of the community rather than the pressing concerns of today. The planning effort will include extensive public participation throughout the process. This comprehensive process will take nearly 18 months to complete and will culminate in the Village Council adopting the plan in the late summer or early fall of 2019.

PlanapaloozaTM is an intense, participatory design and visioning process where stakeholders and the community are invited to work directly with their neighbors and a multidisciplinary consultant team. An opening presentation and hands-on workshop will kick off the event on Wednesday, September 19th at 6:30pm at the Assembly Hall, 395 Magnolia Road.  Throughout the day on Thursday, September 20th and Friday, September 21st in Assembly Hall, focus discussions will be held on the following topics:
